Victoria at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home says that training helped her confidence grow enormously:

“Leaving school, like many others, I felt confused as to which direction I should take regarding my future. I saw the role for a Care Assistant advertised and having an affinity with helping people I believe it called out to me. However, I went into my role not fully comprehending how fulfilling it would turn out to be.

My job is incredibly varied. On a daily basis my first and foremost responsibility is care but my other duties include liaising with our residents’ families, spending quality time with our residents and seeing them properly supported – this is the best part of my job.

I’ve been really helped and encouraged by the management team who have nurtured my strengths and helped me see my potential. The training I’ve been given has equipped me with the tools to do my job successfully and as a result my confidence has grown enormously. I have now been given the opportunity to complete an NVQ in Health and Social Care, which will help advance my career in care to a senior level in the future.

I genuinely do love my job and feel that I get so much out of it. I would encourage anyone who’s interested in a career in care to apply to a Nellsar Home.”
