Selna has been supported through her OSCE Nurse training and having qualified is now putting what she’s learnt into to practice.

How long have you worked with Nellsar?
I have been working with Nellsar for the past ten months.

What made you want to follow a Nursing career?
I grew up always wanting to be a teacher. However, I then saw the opportunity to put my heart into nursing and pursue it as a career. I never realised how that change of direction would change me; once I started the courses, I fell in love with all aspects of nursing.

What makes a good Nellsar Nurse?

I think someone with an empathetic heart is perfect for nursing. Particularly when working with people living with dementia you need a lot of patience to manage various situations.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
Knowing that my touch, voice and care can change someone’s life is the most beautiful part of being a Nurse. My nursing career has helped me grow into a better person too.

Is teamwork an important aspect of your role?

I would like to compare nursing to football, because it’s a team effort and vital for anyone in this field. I need to collaborate with everyone in my team and each member has his or her own roles and responsibilities. As a Nurse, I am happy to be able to act as a grassroots worker when it comes to patient care. I receive fantastic support from the St Winifreds family.
