When did you join Nellsar?
April 2018

What made you apply for a role at Nellsar?
I had previously worked in the NHS for many years in Community Mental Health Teams and moved on to the Older Adults Services and Memory Clinics. It was here I realised my passion for the older generations, and I wanted to find a smaller family-run company with good values; I came across Nellsar and decided to jump ship from the NHS. It was the best decision.

What does your role involve?
I joined the lovely Nellsar family as an Admin Assistant and PA to the Operations Managers. After a year I was lucky enough to do some recruitment training and I started to assist the Recruitment Team. This quickly evolved to my current job role as Recruitment Officer where I am responsible for placing all of the company’s job adverts across recruitment platforms, and monitoring applications. I support the Homes with their recruitment processes and onboarding, and I attend job fairs and networking events. I work with our Recruitment Manager to keep our recruiting processes current, safe and values-based.

What skills do you need to do your role?
For my role I need to be very organised and focused, as recruitment for 13 Care Homes can be crazy at times! I have to be very flexible as things can change from day to day, and most definitely need to be supportive and friendly when speaking to new potential staff.

What elements of your role do you most enjoy?
I enjoy speaking with new people and trying to spread the Nellsar love by talking to potential candidates about how great and rewarding it is to work within the Nellsar family. I enjoy trying to get the best people to look after our residents in their Homes.

How would you describe working with your colleagues?
Working within Nellsar feels like working with family members. From day one I felt very welcomed. The Management Team are so supportive and friendly; nothing is ever too much trouble and they always strive to get the best from their staff development with lots of opportunities to utilise skills across the company and offer new ideas.

What are you most proud of/your best achievement?
I am really proud of my ability to adapt to the ever changing recruitment needs of Nellsar Care Homes and I am very proud of the ability to seek out good values-based recruits for our Homes and residents.
