Activities (Recreation and Well-Being) Liaison Support
Hourly rate: £10 per hour
Location: Sonya Lodge Care Home, 10 High Road, Wilmington, Dartford DA2 7EG
Contracted Hours: Days – 37.5 hours
As Activities (Recreation and Well-Being) Support you will ultimately be a vital link between our residents and their families which is now even more essential whilst there is restricted visiting in an effort to reduce the transmission of COVID and thereafter moving forward. You will be involved in the settling in process for new residents, liaise with and support the families in establishing methods of maintaining contact both directly and indirectly. You will support the Team with ‘Meet and Greet’ and Activities planner. This role requires exceptional customer service skills and the ability to empathise with family members, keeping them informed of the status of their queries and always focusing on delivering the best solutions. You will also spend time with the Activities team as well as the liaison/communications function of the role so experience with residents/activities is desirable.
What do I need for this role?
- To have an empathetic nature whilst demonstrating a strong communication ability
- Professional phone etiquette
- Experience with activities/care home setting desirable
- Strong call handling skills and an active listener
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of working in customer service
- Experience of working in a busy work environment
- A suitable presentation manner in which to present yourself and our company to external stakeholders; being customers, patients/families, suppliers, or visitors.
- Excellent written communication skills
- Good IT skills and ability to use the likes of Skype, FaceTime etc to facilitate resident calls with family members
- Previous Healthcare experience is preferred but not essential
- Open to learning and feedback

Entering a care home for a job interview: Anyone who enters a care home for a job interview must show proof of vaccination unless they are exempt. If someone intends to have the vaccination but is not yet vaccinated, the interview should take place outside of the care home or remotely (via video call or telephone).
Recruitment of new staff: The regulations also apply to new staff recruited by the registered provider. It is important to note that only new recruits that have had a full course of an MHRA approved COVID-19 vaccine or are medically exempt from the requirement are eligible to work in the care home. It will only be possible for a newly appointed member of staff to start working in the care home once they have provided evidence of their vaccination status or a medical exemption.
